Some babies start to dribble/drool from birth and some start when their teeth are beginning to come through. Dribbling itself is perfectly normal and nothing to be worried about.

Dribbling will normally get worse when babies are teething as they will naturally produce more saliva during this time. Teething is a stop/start process that can start from around 3 to 12 months and babies naturally produce more saliva during this time which can continue for at least two years.

Excessive dribbling can cause ‘Dribble Rash’ also known as ‘Teething rash’ which is a rash and/or soreness which babies get around the neck and chin area. Typically, this is caused by:

• Dribble getting onto the baby’s chin and neck. Baby dribble contains digestive enzymes which irritate the skin and cause the rash.
• Dribble makes the baby’s clothes wet which leads to rubbing and chafing against the baby’s skin. You can avoid this by using our BibEasy Bibs which prevent the neck and chest getting wet.

What to do if your baby already has dribble rash?

There are several creams and balms that can be used to provide a barrier for your baby’s skin if your baby already has dribble rash. These barrier creams prevent the dribble from making direct contact with the skin which prevents the irritation which causes the rash.

There are several commercial products available and a quick internet search will reveal the main ones which include Sudocream, Vaseline, e45 and Lansinoh all of which should be available from your local pharmacist.

If your baby’s dribble rash is very bad, your doctor can prescribe steroid creams which will help to clear up the rash.

Be sure not to mistake your baby’s dribble rash with eczema as some of the creams mentioned above may make eczema worse.

If your baby’s dribble rash is severe or you suspect eczema, you should speak to your doctor.

Try to keep your baby’s neck, chin and clothes dry as much as possible to avoid them getting dribble rash.

What fabric are the bibs made of?

Our bibs are 100% cotton on the front but some have waterproof peva (polyethylene vinyl acetate) which is a non-chlorinated vinyl and is commonly used as a substitute for PVC) at the back to prevent dribble and wetness going onto babies skin.
Our sleeved bibs are made from polyurethane (cotton/polyester with a single side waterproof coating)

Where are your bibs made?

The new range of BibEasy Bibs are handmade in the UK and some are manufactured in China. We initially had them made in UK but outsourced to China due to production and cost but we are working on getting them all made in the UK.

Do your bibs contain any harmful dyes or substances?

Our bibs have been tested by the world’s leading company to ensure they do not contain any Azo (textile) dyes, acid or toxins like PFOS (Perfluorooctane sulfonate) which is a harmful chemical.

How effective are BibEasy Bibs compared to standard bibs?

Depending on how much your baby dribbles or drools, BibEasy bibs can keep your baby 80-90% drier than traditional bibs. The integrated flap absorbs dribble before it can irritate babies delicate skin saving you time from wiping their mouth or changing wet vets, bodysuits or tops.

How do I wash BibEasy Bibs?

Our cotton bibs can be washed at 30-40oC and tumble dried.
Waterproof bib should just be air dried as heat will melt the fabric.
Sleeved bibs can be rinsed with warm soap and water or popped in the washing machine on a 30oc cycle and air dried
